Coconut or Massena Lorikeet

The Coconut or Massena's Lorikeets (Trichoglossus haematodus massen) is endangered due to loss of habitat and capturing for the pet trade. It is a subspecies of the Ornate Lorikeet. Usually it will be in 25-27cm.


Habitat

Eastern New Guinea, Louisiade Archipelago, Karkar Island, Bismarck Archipelago, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu

Primary Diet

Pollen, Fruits, Unripe seeds, Berries, Blossoms, Lead-tips and nectar
